Macmillan Assembly
Lesson: PSHE and citizenship
Class: Year 2 Year: 2024 - 2025
27th September 2024
Today we presented our Macmillan assembly to a packed school hall. It was very exciting but there were a few ‘ow’ moments as our nerves set in!
Our main theme was Superheroes as we sought to acknowledge the amazing work done by the superhero Macmillan nurses and staff. We also explored the idea that we should all be our own superheroes and take charge of our lives.
Another important theme in our assembly was wisdom – our current Christian value. We spoke and sung about the importance of wisdom and using it for good.
We all had a lot of challenging words to read but we spoke with confidence and clarity, relishing our moment in the spotlight. – an invigorating ‘now’ experience for us all.
After the assembly the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning took place. We had all donated delicious cakes to sell and they went down a treat.
By the end of the day we were delighted to hear that the coffee morning had raised an impressive amount of money for such a worthy cause. We are so proud of ourselves. It was a real ‘wow’ moment in our school year.
